The Dream

Instantes has been an evolving dream of mine for some time. I have a passion for celebrating life and moments. I love Photgraphy (and videography) for it’s ability to capture the essence of moments.

I discovered the poem Instantes around about the time when I was living in Spain. The message struck me with the clarity of perspective from someone who has experienced much and is close to losing it all. Celebrate and live fully, all the big and small joys life offers.

What does Instantes mean?

The Experiment

Instantes was started like most things, as an experiment. Can I challenge the status quo and make a difference? Can I create something beautiful which can also make a wider impact?

I take inspiration from Dr Bronners and Who Gives a Crap which positively impact the world we all share.

Preserving precious indigenous knowledge

I have a deep respect for the traditional custodians of Australia and The Torres Strait Islands. Their incredible knowledge and 'social technology' developed over tens of thousands of years, is unfortunately being lost.

Celebrating timber, trees and forests

We all love timber, whether it be floorboards, a benchtop or a boutique craft. A bespoke and reborn panel from Instantes invites the magic of timber, the tree and forests into our homes.

A better deal for artists

I believe in the power of art and a better deal for artists.

Preserving precious
Indigenous knowledge

'The knowledge is in the landscape. The Elders have not passed. The land is an Elder too.'

Victor Steffenson

We have a deep respect for the traditional custodians of Australia and The Torres Strait Islands. Their incredible knowledge and 'social technology' developed over tens of thousands of years, is unfortunately being lost. They had a deep connection to Country

The next serious bushfire season is unfortunately a matter of when not if.  The next hot El Niño will most likely cause challenges for us in Austalia.

For First Nations people, fire was not perceived as dangerous but a cleanser and very useful tool.  Fire can create life and forms part of indigenous spirituality. Cultural burning practices have been used by Aboriginal Australians to enhance the health of the land,  protect threatened species, promote generation of indigenous species and enhance biodiversity. Importantly it can curb the impact of savage wildfires. These series of practices also strengthens the connection with country.

We are committed to preserving indigenous practices and we will donate 10% of profits to First Nations causes to advance their mission. We will share information with the Instantes Community about cultural burns to foster this ancient practice.

Trees

Celebrating timber, trees and forests

"Trees have long been trying to reach us. But they speak on frequencies too low for people to hear"

From Overstory by Richard Powers

We all love timber, whether it be floorboards, a benchtop or a boutique craft. A bespoke and reborn panel from Instantes invites the magic of timber, the tree and forests into our homes.

At Instantes we celebrate the story of the timber which has had many lives. Trees from virgin forests are still being decimated at unprecedented rates.

At Instantes we only use upcycled timber which also honours the story of the tree and the many lives it has had. We are fascinated with the story of timber.

Some of our panels started life as a tree for hundreds of years in Tasmania, before becoming a seat in a stadium in Melbourne and then crafted into a unique panel for you to take home.

With our technological advancement, we unfortunately have  become very disconnected from the natural world. Timber acts as a bridge to reconnect us to nature.

A better deal for artists

"Art changes people, people change the world"

   Paul James Morrow

We believe in the power of art and a better deal for artists.

It is a tough slog to make a career as an artist. The Art of Making It is a great overview of the challenges facing modern artists.

We were quite dismayed when buying a print from a visual artist cost significantly less than the framing price. How could this be? We want to help up and coming local artists continue with their passion, for we believe we all benefit from more art in the world.

We commit to the majority (more than 50%) of the profits from each Artist panel sold will reach the artist.

Some lucky owners who support artists will also be rewarded with a digital NFT where there could be further value for them and the featured artist

Stay tuned for art drops
